Road to Publication

It's an interesting road, no matter how to take it, no matter how you get there. I've been submitting queries, writing synopses, writing new books, honing my craft, and a bunch of other activities. I even have serious interest from a publisher--Shadow Mountain. But nothing is set, and I'm beginning to wonder about the probability of success through the new epublishing models on Amazon.com. I'm even thinking of focusing this blog, or a new one, on adventures in publishing, or my road to publication.

How do you determine what to write about? What has your path to publication been like?

I write what interests me, the kind of stories that I would like to read. My road is very much under construction with no deadline in sight, but who needs roads? Writing is like off-roading--exploring those hard-to-reach places.

Good luck with your endeavors!

I've only been involved since 2010 StoryMakers. It's tough. The amount of time required to study, write, research, maintain blogs, network, conference, critique, etc. is GIGANTIC. Sometimes I wonder at the dedication it takes, and I think I must be very careful not to give my family reason to believe that writing/publishing are more important to me than a husband and children, and I must be careful to not try to push too fast. The desire, obsession, goal is strong because the need to succeed, prepare for college, mission, retirement is equally as strong. Not to mention the need to create, which comes genetically from our Father in Heaven. So it is to Him I go in search of ideas. And balance.
And the vision to stretch out my journey and know my limitations. Happy Writing!
